IMMERSIVE SPATIAL EXPERIENCE
There’s always a lot going on with our full-scale productions. An ambitious client, people from all over the world, technology, creative ideas and tight deadlines. This was certainly the case with Messe Frankfurt’s international corporate event at the Festhalle. Here, we took a fresh approach to 90 tonnes of technical equipment and turned it into a particularly well-rounded affair. In terms of both scale and nature, it was a unique immersive application of the modular FRAMELED™ system.
An outer rig suspended in an oval formation formed the basis for a complex setup and a temporary architectural installation of a very special kind. 154 running metres of HOFFORK 350 MLT THREE and MLT TWO, flown on 99 D8+ motorised chain hoists, created a precisely controllable, spatially effective supporting structure through the use of adjustable and length-variable fork connectors.
The opposing dual-stage setup, which could be operated from both sides, featured 110 m² INFiLED AR3.9 and 176 m² Unilumin URMIII LED walls, each controlled via NovaStar Technology. To achieve the comprehensive visual narrative, the content was expanded to include 1,744 free-floating, vertically arranged FRAMELED Pulse Q100 units with a concave baseline, condensing them into an organic, dynamic spatial effect.

At the centre of the overall structure stood a 10-metre-wide mirrored ring made of bematrix and DIBOND FR, which, as a central reflective surface, effectively showcased the lighting design using our beams.
A total of 430 state-of-the-art fixtures were used, including high-end systems from Robe Deutschland GmbH ((i)Forte, Tetra-X), AYRTON (Cobra), GLP German Light Products (impression X5), ROXX GmbH (Neo, Cluster B2 FC Blinder) and wireless solutions from Astera LED Technology GmbH. Using the grandMA3 Fullsize and Light consoles, as well as the media servers, the team from studio : 3 GmbH ensured the smooth operation of lighting and content.
High-quality live footage was provided by three Panasonic 4K camera rigs via a DTS wireless camera link, as well as two AW-UE160 dome cameras. For video production, an Analog Way Aquilon C+ was used as a high-performance screen management processor, alongside a Ross Video Carbonite Ultra as the broadcast video switcher.
An audio system from CODA Audio Deutschland GmbH was used to ensure excellent speech intelligibility during the business segment and powerful sound for the party section. This was based on CiRAY line-array modules, supplemented by SCP-F subwoofers and N-APS and APS systems for near-fill and out-fill applications. System amplification and control were handled by LINUS-Amping.

The central control and mixing of all audio signals was managed via the YAMAHA Rivage series console.
We had a 42-hour window to set up our ambitious production – from load-in to rehearsals. We had three hours to convert the venue from a daytime to an evening event. Alongside extensive pre-production, high-quality equipment, well-designed riser solutions and stage grids, it was above all planning, organisation, communication and a strong crew that made it all possible.
